Catherine S. Blakespear was elected to her first term as Mayor of Encinitas in 2016, and reelected in 2020. Prior to serving as Mayor, Blakespear was a city council member from 2014 to 2016. Blakespear has practiced law since 1996 after earning her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1995. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California, San Diego in 1990 where she also minored in Economics. Blakespear resides in Cardiff-by-the-Sea with her husband and two children.read less
