Catherine A. Giessel was born in Anchorage, Alaska. She earned a B.S. in Nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1981 and worked as a registered nurse and nursing instructor. She served as chair of the South Anchorage Republican Women's Club from 2005-2011. In 2010 Giessel won election to the Alaska State Senate representing District N. She currently serves on several committees including the Health and Social Services Committee, the State Affairs Committee, and the Legislative Council.read less
