Carl Gilliard is a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 162. He was first elected in a special election in 2009. Gilliard is a member of the Economic Development & Tourism, Governmental Affairs, and Public Safety committees. Prior to joining the legislature, Gilliard served on the Garden City Council from 1996 to 2008. He has worked as a substance abuse counselor and mental health technician. Gilliard is an outreach worker with Union Mission Inc., a Savannah homeless shelter. He earned his B.A. in psychology at Armstrong Atlantic State University.read less
