Austin Scott was born in Tifton, Georgia on December 10, 1969. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Georgia in 1991 and worked in real estate, insurance, farming and as a business consultant before entering politics. In 1996, at age 27, Scott won a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives. He went on to serve seven terms, chairing committees on Economic Development & Tourism; Appropriations; and State Institutions & Property. While in the state legislature, Scott focused on job growth initiatives, low taxes and limited government.read less
